EasyWeed vs EcoStretch: Choosing the Right Heat Transfer Vinyl
EasyWeed and EasyWeed Stretch heat transfer vinyl. Both materials have a matte finish, but they differ in flexibility and application areas. EasyWeed is ideal for standard materials such as cotton and polyester, while EasyWeed Stretch is designed for elastic materials and offers greater stretchability. Additionally, EasyWeed Stretch requires a higher pressing temperature and firm pressure for optimal adhesion. The choice between the two depends on the specific material and the project's needs.
Distinguishing between EasyWeed and EasyWeed Stretch can be a bit of a challenge, especially since both materials look fantastic and have a similar finish. However, there are some small differences that can help you figure out which one you have to work with. Here's a guide to spotting the differences:
Check the flexibility
Stretch has earned its name for a good reason! Try to bend or stretch the foil (carefully, of course). If it's very flexible and appears designed to conform to the fabric, it's EcoStretch. EasyWeed is more rigid and less elastic, as it's intended for standard textiles such as cotton and polyester.
Check the back (liner's finish)
The back of EcoStretch often has a slightly different texture or finish than standard EasyWeed.
The colour selection may clarify it
If you have the material in a colour that doesn't exist in EasyWeed's standard palette, there's a good chance it's Stretch. EasyWeed Stretch has a broader range of colours, which can help you identify it.
Remember – both are fantastic!
