We have opted out of the scheme because the E-mark does not accept that our customers can pay via bank transfer. Since our products appeal to both consumers, who typically pay by credit card, and institutions, who do not have a Dankort (Danish debit card), we would have to decline selling products to institutions, which we do not wish to do.

There are ongoing features in various consumer magazines on radio or TV about the E-mark. We are aware that the Danish Consumer Council, Danish Chamber of Commerce, DI, FDIH, HK, Dansk IT, Finansrådet and the Ministry of Science – which invested money in the scheme in 2000 – naturally recommend only shopping with E-mark certified businesses.

As a business, we are somewhat frustrated to hear this very one-sided argument: that consumers should only shop with E-mark certified online stores. The E-mark is a completely voluntary scheme that no one is forced to join – and in our opinion, it is entirely irrelevant in a society like Denmark's, where we have an effective legal system, a consumer ombudsman, including information about our CVR number where you as a consumer can always find information about the company at www.cvr.dk.

Strygestof.dk has no intention of becoming E-mark certified because:

Despite all the support the e-commerce fund has received from the Ministry of Science, it is not free to become E-mark certified. It would cost us DKK 3,000 in a start-up fee + DKK 5,900 annually to become E-mark certified. These expenses can only mean that it would then become more expensive to be a customer at Strygestof.dk

In our opinion, the E-mark provides a false sense of security. It is not reasonable to run a scare campaign against online shopping when we Danes are so fond of shopping online. Strygestof.dk has been operating online retail since 2015, and we are sorry to be labelled as a less trustworthy business simply because we are not E-mark certified.

Until very recently, the e-commerce fund's main argument for everyone needing the E-mark was that PBS had approved the payment solution. This is not true, as it is not possible to get a payment solution without PBS.

Therefore, you only have our word that we comply with applicable legislation, and that we naturally treat our customers in such a way that they will want to shop with us.
